REVIEWS

The total effect is like a spell cast on the reader. I came out of these poems not unlike one emerging from the sad ache of truth put to music.

-Hyginus Ekwuazi

The mind of Mr. Gbogi furnishes his reader with sound, lyrical coordinates and content of timeless poetry. He is loyal to his poetic tradition while remaining hugely impressive, markedly distinct and uncommonly sublime. This is the brand of poetry that travels.

–Tade Ipadeola

The collection experiments with language in an interesting way that challenges the concept of “well-formed” and “well-behaved” syntactic/poetic patterns. To the poet’s credit, the lines make both poetic and thematic sense while simultaneously avoiding the monotony of conventional usage.

-Taiwo Oloruntoba-Oju

The absolute voice in Tosin Gbogi’s poetry is both political and intellectual, obviously motivated to reach the heart of the common man’s condition.

In the tongues of a shattered s-k-y, the absurd, the grotesque and the fantastic in the ordinary experience of life are intimated in a language that is insurrectionist and iconoclastic, delivered intimately for direct meanings.

This is a worthy and precocious addition to the subtype of Nigerian writing known as “twilight poetry”.
