Quarantine is here and with it, the frenzy of disinfecting/ wiping of surfaces and sanitizing/ washing of the hands. But, it will pass. We have compiled an interesting list of paid submissions for writers all over the world with zero submission fee.

1. Room
Room accepts original works of poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction and art by women (cisgender/transgender). transgender men, Two-spirit and non-binary people from anywhere in the world.
GUIDELINES
– Send an original short story or creative non-fiction of not more than 3,500 words.
– Send a pack of 5 unpublished poems.
– Both poetry and prose submissions should be submitted in Times New Roman, 12pt. font.
– For Arts, submit up to 5 images.
– Mention if the submission is a simultaneous one in your cover letter.
DEADLINE is April 30, 2020.
PAYMENT
Room pays $50CAD for a single page, $60 for 2 pages, $90 for 3, $120 for 4 and $150 for 5 or more pages.

2. Chicken Soup For The Soul
They are currently looking for moving and well-told stories or poems on the topic ‘Christmas Is In The Air’. They want to hear about your interesting christmas holiday memories and traditions.
GUIDELINES
– Tell an exciting, heartwarming story that is true.
– Story must not exceed 1,200 words.
– Poems should also tell a story.

3. Cemetary Gates Anthology
For this year’s anthology, Cemetary Gates is looking for stories on local lore or location based oddities. It should be dark stories set in a real place you’ve lived or somewhere you’ve visited before.

Story must be between 3,000-6,000 words and should be a doc. or rtf. file.

4. Chestnut Review
Chestnut Review is a magazine for ‘stubborn artists’. It is accepting submissions of poetry, very short fiction and art/photography from writers all over the world for its Autumn/October issue.
GUIDELINES
– Submit a piece of flash fiction with not more than 1,000 words or four pieces that do not exceed 1,000 words in total.
– Submit a pack of 3 poems. Each poem should be 1 page or less.
– Submit up to 20 publishable images for visual arts.
DEADLINE is June 30, 2020.

5. Ebedi Review
The Ebedi International Writer’s Residency by Wale Okediran and other African writers seek submissions for the 10th year special edition of the magazine.
GUIDELINES
– Poems shouldn’t be more than 5 with 30 lines each.
– Short stories shouldn’t exceed 3,000 words.
– Documents should be saved as ‘Ebedi Review/Genre/Name of Author in Ms. word format, Times New Roman, 12pt.font size.
– Submissions should be titled ‘Ebedi Review 2020’.
– Submit a piece of critical essays/reviews of not more than 2,500 words on any contemporary literary work by a Nigerian.
