The month of November holds lots of events for individuals who are lovers of the Arts. If you are wondering about literary events to attend and things to do, we have here a list of literary related events taking place this November.
The streets of Lagos come alive as LIPFEST makes its comeback on October 31st. This is the 4th international poetry festival and it is themed “Wide Awake”. It is set to focus on the “growing importance of vigilance in a post- truth era”. It promises to be an amazing event as it features poetry readings from different poets across Africa, conversations with writers alike, music that sets the soul on fire as well as lectures for writers. LIPFEST2018 kicks off on October 31st and runs through to the 4th of November.

ART X Lagos 2018
ART X Lagos is here for the third edition of cutting edge contemporary African art, specially curated projects, talks and live events happening at The Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The renowned artist, Yinka Shonibare MBE is the Keynote Artist for ART X Lagos 2018.
There will be ART X Live! Which will feature Odunsi the Engine as Creative Director, BOJ, Amaarae, Teni the Entertainer and visual artist, Tomisin Akinwunmi. Check ART X Lagos website for more information and ticket.

Benin City Film Festival (BCFF)
This is the first annual City Film Festival to be hosted in and by Benin. The four day event is planned to feature the following; Screening of Movies, Workshop and Seminar Exhibitions as well as an Award Ceremony and Gala night. The Nigeria Film Society and Abog Communications are working hand in hand with the Edo State Government and Nigeria Institute of Hospitality and Tourism to ensure BCFF fulfils its aim. The goal of the festival is to engage the local community as well as international film makers in a creative film making process. It also hopes to encourage young local film makers in their art as well as build them up via workshops and seminars. It is slated to hold on the 14th to the 17th of November, 2018 at DA Civic Centre, Airport Road, Benin City.

Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF)
AFRIFF holds its 8th film festival in Lagos on the 11th to 17th of November. It was initially set up as an International Film Festival for Africans. It is attended by filmmakers, celebrities, actors, directors, film critics, musicians, editors, students, equipment manufacturers, light engineers, cinematographers, sound engineers and many more individuals in the film making industry. AFRIFF aims to improve and develop the film making industry in Nigeria and other Africa Countries. It is set to hold in various locations in Lagos. Lagos Book & Art Festival, LABAF 2018
Lagos Book & Art Festival (LABAF) was established in 1999 for publishers, book lovers, writers as well as literary enthusiasts and artists. It is slated to hold from Monday, 5th of November to the 11th of November at Freedom Park, Old Prison ground, by Broad Street, Lagos Island. The CORA Book Trek kicks off this event on the 5th at The Garden, British Council, 20 Thompson Street, Ikoyi, Lagos by 5pm. It also features a Reader’s Forum as well as a tribute to Fela at 80 themed “The Fela In Me“.

Ignite Africa’s Bookversations with Tunde Leye
Ignite Africa’s Bookversatons Series continues with the prolific author, Tunde Leye. Tunde Leye has written several books including Golden Sands, Guardians of the Seal, and the latest one Afonja.
Samsudeen Alabi will be moderating the literary discussion which promises to be fun and exciting. There will be book signing at the event. Register

Lagos Photo Festival Events
The 9th edition of Lagos Nigeria Photo Festival started on the 27th of October and is due to run till the 15th November. It basically involves photographers from different places in Nigeria. It is a festival which brings photographers from across Nigeria, equipping them via workshops and exhibits.
