4th Crater Literary Festival – Press Release

0

Literature reflects our world, increasing our appreciation and understanding of the interrelatedness of our identities as individuals and as communities. It shows us our place in the world and how to change or adapt to new challenges which may threaten our perceived way of life.

As we evolve as humans, so do our stories; therefore, so does literature. Despite our constant evolution, however, one thing remains unchanged, ‘Man’s need to communicate’.

This year, the theme for our 4th and virtual edition of Crater Literary Festival is ‘The Literary Agenda.’ We would be exploring the tools and channels of literary communication in a digital age (storytelling to story selling) from 14th-16th December 2020.

Our topics are carefully selected to explore:

(A) Creative Commons: Securing the Future of African Creatives through a Culture of Sharing. (Ms. Kwagalah Primah, Felix Nartey, Helen Chuma Okoro Kayode Yusuf)

(B) Let’s Talk Book Clubs! (Stella Damasus, Micheal Chukwu, Chidiebere Njoku)

(C) Storytelling and Story selling: Publishing in a Digital Age (Amarachukwu Chimeka, Alex Nderitu, Ama Dadson, Kate Wallis)

(D) Through the Sands of Time: A Look at Igbo Literature and the Writer’s Duty. (Ogochukwu Ifeka, Ositadinma Amakeze,Ndubuisi George, Ozii Baba Anieto)

Writers, authors, publishers, librarians, literacy activists, teachers and book club curators and founders will benefit from our panelists who would bring their wealth of knowledge to the panel.

In addition to our panel sessions, we also have book readings/chat sessions with authors: Deji Yesufu, Abigail Anaba and Tayo Agunbiade; a community protest poetry in support of the #EndSARS movement in Nigeria headlined by the poet Chinyere M. Ugokwe; a virtual art exhibition by Ifedilichukwu Chibuike; live stream of a short drama about I949 Iva Valley Massacre; among other activities.

At @CraterLitFest20, we are all about learning, connecting with like-minded people, who enjoy and appreciate literature.
