Cassava Republic Press recently announced the launch of a new prize, the Global Black Women’s Non-Fiction Manuscript Prize, “dedicated to exceptional works of Black women (cis, trans and genderqueer).”
The prize, non-fiction focused, is a first of its kind and seeks to publish works from Black women at either the emerging or established phase of their writing careers.
Cassava Republic Press, with offices in Abuja and London, was founded in Nigeria, in 2006 “with the aim of bringing high quality fiction and non-fiction for adults and children alike to a global audience.”
The Prize
A total of $30,000 is awarded to three prize winners. The winner of the Global Black Women’s Non-Fiction Manuscript Prize is awarded a $20,000 advance and a publishing contract with Cassava Republic Press, while two other writers will each receive a $5,000 advance as well as a publication from the publishing house.
Eligibility
The prize is open to Black women writers and thinkers aged 18 and over from all corners of the globe.
